About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Satellite Communications Expert to lead and support initiatives in Direct-to-Cell (DTC) satellite technology and other advanced satellite communication systems. This role involves designing, deploying, and optimizing satellite networks that enable direct connectivity to consumer devices, including smartphones, IoT sensors, and emergency communication systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical design and implementation of Direct-to-Cell satellite communication systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate satellite payloads with terrestrial networks.
- Evaluate and optimize link budgets, RF performance, and spectrum usage for DTC services.
- Support regulatory and licensing efforts for satellite spectrum and orbital slots.
- Develop and maintain system architecture documentation, including satellite-ground interface specifications.
- Conduct feasibility studies and simulations for new satellite technologies (e.g., LEO/MEO/GEO constellations).
- Stay current with industry trends in NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks), 3GPP standards, and satellite-to-device innovations.
- Provide technical leadership in customer engagements, proposals, and solution development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, Aerospace, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in satellite communications, preferably with DTC or NTN systems.
- Strong understanding of RF engineering, satellite payloads, and ground station infrastructure.
- Experience with 3GPP Release 17/18 standards related to NTN and DTC.
- Familiarity with satellite network simulation tools (e.g., STK, SatSim, MATLAB).
- Knowledge of spectrum management and regulatory frameworks (FCC, ITU, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Education & Certifications:
- Experience with LEO constellations (e.g., Starlink, OneWeb, AST SpaceMobile).
- Hands-on experience with SDR (Software Defined Radio) and beamforming technologies.
- Background in mobile network integration (e.g., 5G core, RAN, edge computing).
- Prior involvement in satellite launch or commissioning projects.
